Reflecting on a Momentous Year in Delivering Health Care
December 22, 2022Leer en español
Even in this winter season Sonoma Valley remains a beautiful landscape for residents and visitors alike. We, here at the hospital, are fortunate to work in such a diverse organization full of great healthcare providers. As we head into the New Year, we have an opportunity to reflect on our momentous year and begin to chart the new course ahead.
First, I’d like to acknowledge our hospital’s active partnership with the City of Sonoma, Sonoma Valley Community Health Care Center, La Luz Center, Vintage House, SOS, Hanna Center, Sonoma Valley Fire District, Schell-Vista Fire Protection District, Sonoma Valley Collaborative, and elected leaders toward improving the health of valley residents. We’ve leveraged our partnerships including UCSF through a wide array of vaccine clinics, community events, our active aging lecture series and the list goes on.
At the tail end of summer, the first phase of our new Outpatient Diagnostic Center, the CT suite, opened and welcomed its first patients. Shortly thereafter, SVH sprinted towards a massive revamp of our medical records infrastructure by deploying Epic in December.
We’re working on game changing things for 2023, the Healthcare District Board has already approved plans to bring a new MRI on site to be housed in a temporary structure on hospital grounds. We hope to be live by the beginning of 2024. With a permanent location slated for 2025.
As healthcare becomes increasingly technology-driven with new pathways and systems, it’s important to take a step back and remember our purpose. We’re not building a widget or processing paperwork; we’re delivering healthcare for you. Our duty is to our community.
The hospital has done great work this year. It’s been hard but rewarding. I’m thankful Sonoma Valley has such a great hospital, and that the hospital has your support!
Happy Holidays!
John
