FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 2, 2024 — Sonoma Valley Hospital (SVH) was honored to welcome Senator Bill Dodd, representing the 3rd Senatorial District, today as he issued a commendation to SVH and the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation (SVHF) for their exceptional contributions to the health and well-being of the Sonoma Valley community and the State of California.

“For their distinguished record of public service and immeasurable contributions to the advancement of the local community and the State of California, Sonoma Valley Hospital and Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation are deserving of special recognition and the highest commendations,” said Senator Dodd.

As a full-service acute-care district hospital located in the City of Sonoma, SVH serves approximately 42,000 residents. Our hospital offers a 24-hour emergency room, inpatient services with an intensive care unit, surgical services, and state-of-the-art outpatient diagnostic center.

SVHF, the philanthropic arm of SVH, plays a pivotal role in fundraising, providing millions in grants to our hospital. This community support has enabled significant advancements, including a new diagnostic center, surgical equipment upgrades, the transition to the Epic/MyChart electronic health record system, and the Project Pink cancer screening program.

Fully accredited by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality, SVH meets national standards for health care quality and safety. Our hospital has also been recognized by the Lown Institute as one of America’s most socially responsible hospitals, receiving “A” grades in Health Equity, Value, and Outcomes on the 2023-2024 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. SVH is among only 54 hospitals nationwide to achieve honor roll status with “A” grades in all top categories.

Senator Dodd emphasized, “I take great pleasure in commending SVH and SVHF for their ongoing commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the Sonoma Valley and for serving as the bridge to a thriving community.”
