The Hospital’s focus on quality care, patient safety and improved efficiencies will be showcased in the annual Sonoma Valley Hospital Performance Improvement Fair to be held on Thursday, November 17. This year, for the first time, the Fair will be open to the community.

The event, now in its third year, is organized by the Hospital’s Quality Department and the Sonoma Valley Health Care District’s Quality Committee to recognize initiatives developed by Hospital staff, departments, and multidisciplinary teams that have identified opportunities for improving Hospital performance during the past year.

This year’s PI Fair showcases 15 projects, ranging from new ways to treat common medical conditions, to promoting wellness in the hospital and the community, to identifying creative ways to streamline Hospital operations. Each project is featured in a table-top display that explains project objective and implementation, and highlights results.

The PI Fair will be held on Thursday, November 17 in Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Administrative Conference Room (next to Hospital Administration offices) from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm. Staff members will be available to answer questions and discuss the projects.

“We have a highly committed hospital and medical staff and this provides an opportunity to showcase their efforts to improve hospital performance,” said Leslie Lovejoy, RN, PhD, Chief Quality Officer. “The projects are implemented by cross-functional teams, many comprising physicians and hospital staff working together. The Fair promotes best practices throughout the organization by showcasing new approaches that get results, whether by enhancing patient care and safety, or streamlining operations for maximum effectiveness and even reduced cost.”

This year, the Fair is open to the community at the urging of District Board Chair, Jane Hirsch, who also chairs the Board’s Quality Committee. “I encouraged Hospital Administration to share the Fair with our community because it shows many reasons why we can be proud of our Hospital, highlighting the strong commitment to best practices,” Hirsch said. “We encourage everyone to drop by and look behind the scenes to see what makes SVH such a wonderful hospital.”
