“Why Sleep Matters” Is Topic of September GirlTalk Sponsored By Sonoma Valley Hospital

August 27, 2018

Scrimping on sleep may seem like a good idea, especially when we’re busy, but doing so is more likely to make us less effective, not more.

Sonoma Valley Hospital will host an informative conversation as part of its GirlTalk Women’s Health series on why good sleeping habits are critical to good health, and how we can improve our ability to get a sound night’s sleep.

Patricia Brooks, LCSW, PhD, will lead the conversation, discussing the stages of sleep, identifying everyday practices that can either help or disrupt our sleep, and providing tips on remedies and practices that can help ensure we get a good night’s sleep. She will also include a mindful meditation movement demonstration. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

September’s GirlTalk will be held at Ramekin’s, located at 450 West Spain Street in Sonoma, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, September 21. There is a $10 donation at the door to cover light refreshments and beverages, and a no-host bar will be available. Reservations are required, as space is limited. Doors will open at 5:30 pm. To reserve a place or for more information, call Celia Kruse de la Rosa at 707.935.5257, or email girltalk@sonomavalleyhospital.org.

Patricia Brooks is a licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and holds a PhD in Healing Psychology and Integrative Medicine. She has worked in the health care field for more than 40 years and specializes in the Mind/Body connection. Dr. Brooks leads the Mindful Meditation and Movement Classes held at Sonoma Valley Hospital.

GirlTalk is an education outreach program of A Woman’s Place at Sonoma Valley Hospital, providing women in our community with the latest information on timely health and wellness topics to help them take charge of their health and well-being.
